Ballot Status History – Mountain Party of West Virginia

2000: The Mountain Party of West Virginia qualified for statewide ballot status in June 2000.

In West Virginia, the criteria to qualify for statewide ballot status is gathering at least 12,730 petition signers. The Mountain Party submitted approximately 18,900 signatures, and enough were deemed valid by state elections officials to qualify the Mountain Party for the November 2000 ballot.

In November 2000 elections, Denise Giardina received  votes 10,416 votes (1.61%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2004 elections.


2004: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2004.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2004 elections, Jesse Johnson received  votes 18,430 votes (2.48%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2008 elections.


2008: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2008.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2008 elections, Jesse Johnson received  votes 31,195 votes (4.46%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2012 elections.


2012: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2012.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2012 elections, Jesse Johnson received  votes 14,614 votes (2.58%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2016 elections.


2016: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2016.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2016 elections, Charlotte Pritt received  votes 42,068 votes (5.89%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2020 elections.


2020: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2020.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2020 elections, Daniel Lutz received  votes 11,309 votes (1.47%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2024 elections.


2024: The Mountain Party of West Virginia retained statewide ballot status in November 2024.

The criteria for retaining ballot status in West Virginia is to receive 1% for governor in the November general election.

In November 2024 elections, Chase Linko-Looper received  votes 9,596 votes (1.3%), sufficient to retain statewide ballot status for the Mountain Party through the  November 2028 elections.
